Work begins on turning sewage spot in Rishikesh into ‘selfie point’

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated a sewage treatment facility On June 20 at Chandrabhaga drain, whose dirty untreated water earlier flowed directly into the Ganga.

He also took a ‘selfie’ at the spot which is intended to be made into a ‘selfie point’ by officials of Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh’s largest ashram which is installing a state-of the-art ‘bio-remediation sewerage geotube treatment system’ at the spot with the help of a Netherlands-based company.

  1. One should not get carried away by Political Propaganda as In Uttra-khand, a very few attractions have been created to cater to the interests of various category of tourists. Barring a few places such as Flower Garden, even the natural spots are highly under-developed. Tourists should click pictures of the dirty spots and poorly managed/ created Infra/ spaces, rather than taking selfies !

Not that I am against design, planning and creation of any world class facility which should be well managed at least for international tourists.
