Walk For Water observance of World Water Day 2017 On 22 March, World Water Day 2017, Walk For Water succeeded in organizing tens of thousands of events across India and abroad.  Walk For Water teams in various states worked overtime to plan and execute multiple events in the metropolitan cities and other municipalities, as well in thousands of rural communities. At New Delhi, the walk at India Gate was attended by a host of dignitaries including the Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Mr. Vijay Goel. At Bangaluru, Karnataka Chief Minister Mr. S. Siddharamaiah led the walk of thousands in the company of his ministerial colleagues and senior bureaucrats.  At Mumbai, several celebrities attended the human chain and walk at the iconic Juhu beach, while over 1500 people marched at Powai. In the state of Telengana, the water resources department partnered with Walk For Water to observe World Water Day at 45000 water tanks with the dependent communities. There were walks at every municipality and Hyderabad city alone had thousands of different events organized by the Walk For Water teams. There were events at every district of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh too. In the eastern part of India, students of 16 colleges and schools marched through the main streets of Shillong for the cause of water, the first of its kind event in the city facilitated by the venerable St. Edmund’s College and the Meghalaya Futurity Society. At Assam there were multiple events all over the state organized in collaboration with Walk For Water partner Green Guard Nature Organization. There were Walk For Water solidarity events across the world, with the Water Pledge being administered in over 100 countries and support messages from every continent. Walk For Water Patron Robert Swan, the first man to walk to both the poles, and members of the International Antarctic Expedition 2017 sent video messages from Antarctica. In Nepal, our partners The Climate Reality Project Nepal and the Nepal Friendship Society organized World Day Events at several places. Support messages were sent from all over Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Oceania. World Water Day support messages poured in from organizations and individuals from the USA and Canada to Thailand, and from Sweden to New Zealand. The underlying messages in all these solidarity events was that water was the local issue of global climate change and that the water crisis was solvable. The unprecedented support for the Walk For Water mission for universal safe water access has been overwhelming and we are determined to plan and execute an even bigger campaign next year. All of this was possible because of our partner organizations including the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), various central and state government departments, educational institutes and civil society in India and global partners like the Earth Day Network, The Climate Reality Project, the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, the World Youth Foundation, The Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation, the African Green Movement, the Green Tau Organization UK, Robert Swan’s 2041, the Sanctuary Nature Foundation, the Rising Hope Foundation for Change and numerous other groups. Walk For Water is a civil society group comprising of passionate people committed to the cause of universal safe water access. Aware that nearly half of all supplied water in India is lost due to leakage, we are determined to build up a mass movement that will not only focus on increasing awareness and minimizing wastage but also promote rainwater harvesting and the purification of recycled and contaminated water.

World water Day is observed through awareness programs,Distributing Books relating to the need of Safe Drinking water.We have taken the farmers using to protect water in COCONUT and other plantations.This is by packing Coconut Shelves in mud and protecting water. A very nice idea with Little cost where coconut are available.
