An atmospheric and ecosystem scientist, Dr Burba is a Fellow at LI-COR Biosciences, Global Fellow at Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute, and a Graduate Adjunct Professor in the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska. 

Authored and co-authored over 350 publications, including 6 books (first authorship), over 100 refereed scientific publications, multiple articles, and technical and conference papers relevant to atmosphere-biosphere interactions, and magazine articles on popular science, travel, and photography. Hold 11 patents granted in the US and internationally in 40+ countries, with 10 on successfully commercialized technology, devices, and methods.

Books are on the curricula in 50+ universities, and in 30+ libraries including Oxford, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Cambridge, Cornell, Duke, MIT, Purdue, McGill U, Caltech, Dartmouth, Imperial College London, Karlsruhe IT, Max Planck Institute, etc. Multiple 'Highly Cited' and 'Top 10' papers cited in IPCC and FAO Reports, Nature, Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Environmental Science & Technology, Nature Climate Change, etc.

Taught over 150 courses, workshops, seminars, and invited lectures, including those at 20+ universities, AmeriFlux, Argonne, AsiaFlux, BASC, Battelle, EPA, ICOS, InGOS, IITM, NEON, OzFlux, WMO, etc. Additionally, presented over 450 presentations and webinars. Participated in 250+ conferences and meetings in 30+ countries.
