About

My first degree was in Civil Engineering, at Imperial College, London University. For a few years I worked as an engineer designing irrigation dams. Then I did an MSc by research at the University of Birmingham. This led to the development of a hydrological model - HYSIM (HYdrological SImulation Model) which is widely used the UK and elsewhere in the world.

In the early 1980s I first came across climate change - then called the Greenhouse Effect - when working on a linear-programming model of Libyan agriculture. In the 1990s I did one of the first studies of climate change for Severn-Trent Water Authority. Since the millennium I have worked on climate change in many countries. In the last 18 months this has included: Samoa, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Albania and Bangladesh.
