Asking about Cooperation Between India and Germany on Namami Ganga Programme
Published on by Tyas Nursuciningtyas in Government
Hello i am Tyas, a final year student who's currently doing a research for my thesis titled "Cooperation Between India and Germany on the Preservation of Ganga River 2016-2017".
I need data about how the cooperation going and how is the improvement of Ganga river condition before and after the cooperation. Also I need data about the Ganga River (what materials that polluted Ganga River, what India's government do to solve this, and so on).
Who I should ask about this? any of you knows about this or who should I ask to get this data?
Please help me I'm interested to do interview to ask several question about it.
Thank you

Why focus on this specific aspect of Ganga River Management? If you found this topic than you just have material to sustain it already. If it is an assignment, ask the person that gave you the assignment. It is unlikely that you will find conclusive evidence that the status of the whole of the river Ganga has improved or the type of management has switched completely because of this cooperation while so many other developments are going on at the same time.

I can see you have identified the trees from the forest. your thesis seems to be misdirected and on the path of a perfect "Catch 22". For a variety of concerned fields exam this common sense approach. " when searching for a Head Chef of a 5 star establishment It would be helpful and time saving to stop looking at your local Auto Mechanic. " In your area of research you already have the top 5 star river (and all waste) cleaning mechanism. It is call NATURE. Let us review the items on your list. 1. Continuously flowing clean water. 2. microbial "Bioremediation fully functional. 3. Has been working at 100% success for a few BILLION years. Note: no government or banks required then and now. 4. All substances under consideration 2 B cleaned are in compound form. 5. DNA microbes clean common non chlorinated hydrocarbons. 6. all other items classified as toxins or excessive waste require RNA microbial groups. The Ganges River is a very simple and inexpensive project. No banks or government agencies required. I understand attempting to research why a 3,000 foot Tsunami will destroy your day at the beach. But a realistic solution to this project is to get B&G out of the way and allow nature to complete her non political task. You may contact me to explain all of this in detail. Conserve Mangroves
Cuddalore district coastal region is exposed to various natural forces including cyclones and tsunamis, which are constantly affecting the shorelines, beaches and headlands, causing storm surges, erosion/accretion, landslides, and coastal flooding. Magnitude and risk of disasters are directly proportional to the sensitivity and inversely proportional to degree of resilience of exposed community. To mitigate the ill effects of hazards, a thorough understanding of the vulnerability causing factors and coping capabilities is required for which vulnerability analysis is essential.
The entire coastal length 57.4 km most vulnerable in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu, Particularly this region Lot of coastal intervention industrial activities like cuddalore CUSECS pipe line at Rasapettai, port for chemplast company at chitrapettai and desalination plant intake pipeline outlet pipeline, NOCL company port at Periyakuppam, IL&FS power company port and desalination plant intake pipeline and outlet pipeline, power plant hot water outlet pipe line in pudukuppam. Rising sea levels and commercial shrimp farms, these factors have contributed greatly to the destruction of mangroves in the region.
We, AALAMARAM Organisation was doing seedling, Planting, and regularly monitoring the planted saplings This mangrove forests vitally important to coral reef and commercial fisheries as well as Coastal protection. The dense root systems of mangrove forests trap sediments flowing down rivers and off the land. This helps stabilizes the coastline and prevents erosion from waves and storms.
Mangroves protect shorelines from damaging storm and hurricane winds, waves, and floods. Mangroves also help prevent erosion by stabilizing sediments with their tangled root systems. They maintain water quality and clarity, filtering pollutants and trapping sediments originating from land.
Save mangroves and save the nature

It seems that no one has responded to your query. But let me tell you that cleaning the Ganga is a humongous task.
The way the Indian Government is approaching the matter, I doubt it would get cleaned. There are several issues with pollution of the river and it is not possible to spell out the issues in this thread.
I am aware about the Indo German collaboration, but have no idea about how the matter has progressed. It is very difficult to address a matter of this nature at the Central Government level as the river passes through 4-5 states. Maintenance of the river is a state subject and except for 1 state where the government in power is not the same at the Centre, there has been very little progress in the other states where the government is the same at the state and Centre.
There are several issues with the cleaning up of the Ganga and while installation of STP (Sewage Treatment Plants) are taking place there is shortage of funds for their operations and maintenance.
Besides this several drains carry sewage to the river and not all sewage is treated. The Central Government has not worked on a realistic budget in terms of the CAPEX for the new plants.
Information is very sketchy as there is no single agency that has all the information. If someone wants information he has to run from pillar to post to get the information. Most of the time the information is with the water resources ministry of the state. Besides this CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) has information, but you need to reach the right person to get the information.
