Are we so keen to know which species of flora and fauna has evolved or adapted or failed to adapt to the pollution in Ganges over last few decades! ?? Primary focus should be to insist on restoration/ re-development of River Systems with its flood plains and water bodies to restore the ecological balance as much as possible, to make it same or a little better than that , that had suited the various species in the past.
