It's absolutely astounding to me that the government isn't being held accountable for supporting policies destroying the Gangs ecosystem by being pro business and allowing mining! If this happened in US there would be a major lawsuit against the company commiting clear negligence by violating environmental laws and regulations. How can the ministry for environment in India be supporting a policy that's destroying the environment instead of protecting it when there is clear scientific research and evidence indicating mining is having major negative ecological impacts to the Ganga River ecosystem with less sediment transport and not protecting against flooding at all?
