More men, machines to monitor Ganga water
New Delhi: The Union government is set to double the number of water quality monitoring stations on river Ganga and its tributaries, and install one in the temple town of Kedar Nath. 

Senior officials told ET that the Centre is also overhauling the mechanism by which it receives data from the stations by appointing consultants to validate it.

  1. I find it funny that Water quality monitoring station is also being planned at Kedarnath !

    Govt. should first provide for scientific collection and disposal of solid waste and waste waters generated by pilgrims and locals. We still dont hear any good news as to when a particular spot where ULBs were allowing disposal of untreated sewage / effluent into Ganges has been stopped...

  2. I do understand this project has many facets.  But the cleaning of the water is quite simple and extremely inexpensive. Nature provides all you need.  The difficult part is to stop dumping into the river to allow nature to complete her normal task. The existing microbial programs have been adopted for residential, office buildings, public bathrooms, and so many more.  Because of India's  squat and drop custom small packets of these microbes can be easily carried and used. Looking forward to our first formal meeting.
